When Malaysian wireless carrier Maxis hosted an iPhone promotion event in Penang, some live entertainment was needed to spice things up. With the iPhone being the spotlight of the event, what better way to promote it by showing off some of its abilities?
Well that’s exactly what happen, when 4 guys grabbed some iPhones and turned them into instruments. The guys learned to play a couple of popular songs in about a week for the event, which ended up sounding pretty damn good.
After seeing this, your probably wondering what apps they used to accomplish this. The drums and piano are played with the “Band” app, the bass is played with Moo Cow’s “Bassist” app, and the guitar with the “PocketGuitar” app.
Call some friends over with an iPhone, download the applications, and start jamming! Who knows, maybe there will be an “iPhone Band” competition.

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com has really come through with a wireless device that could really challenge the market for “paper back” books with the Amazon Kindle! Other companies have developed their own versions but none come close to this truly innovative and unique wireless reading device.
What sets the Kindle apart from other wireless readers? Well, there are so many that we will highlight the most important features!
With the same 3G network as advanced cell phones, Amazon delivers content using their own wireless delivery system, Amazon Whispernet. It differs from Wi-Fi, since you’ll never need to locate a hot spot! The benefit of this is that you avoid monthly wireless bills. In just a few minutes you can be reading a new book, blog, or newspaper!
There are a few other features that we feel need to be mentioned:
Paper-like Screen

Amazon Kindle utilizes an innovative high-resolution display technology called electronic-paper. This enables the Kindle to provide a crisp black -and-white screen that resembles the appearance of readable paper. The screen uses ink that has been transmitted electronically. The result is no more glare! The Kindle can be read in bright sunlight as easily as with indoor lighting!
Ergonomic Design

Amazon didn’t disappoint on the design either. Their intent was to make the Kindle as easy to hold as a book. It was desinged with long-form reading in mind. Since people naturally shift positions often, the Kindle’s vertical page turning buttons are located on either side. This reading device is also lighter than most paper backs at only 10.3 ounces.
Keyboard

This keyboard allows you to do a full text search across your entire library or within a specific title. You can also jump to Wikipedia or the dictionary without interrupting your reading.
Long Battery Life
Only needs charging every other day with wireless on. Turn wireless off and your battery will last for a week before recharging. The Kindle recharges in two hours
Massive Reading Material
There are over 260,000 books available at the Kindle Store as well as newspapers, magazines and blogs. You have the ability to shop directly on your Kindle or via Amazon.com on your PC! You simply pay for the book and within one minute it is delivered to your Kindle for free.
The only major downside for some buyers is that since Amazon uses Sprint’s national high-speed (EVDO) data network to transmit data, there is no coverage currently in Montana or Alaska.
The Amazon Kindle is a bit pricier than most wireless readers at $359 but we feel the value is there! It will be very difficult to rival Amazon’s new technology.

Universal Serial Bus, abbreviated as USB is used to connect various devices to the computer. Thanks to this technology that we are witnessing an age of USB flash drives and pen drives, USB modems, etc. Now a day’s even primary devices like Printers, mouse and keyboards are manufactured with USB connectivity. Other devices like mobile phones and digital cameras can also be easily connected to the system through the USB port and transfer data at a faster rate.
Few years ago, connecting a new device via USB port was a tiresome job. It required the operating system to reboot to recognize the newly attached device. But as technology progressed, the rebooting was not required and any number of devices could be connected and disconnected without any problem. With these developments and features like “Hot Swapping”, the technology became market’s red hot. Then came the day when one could power low power consumption devices through the USB ports itself, thereby removing the additional adapter or charger feature from the device.
By the beginning of 2002, with the launch of Windows XP with its in-built USB drivers, people became more drawn towards this technology and the speeds that this port had to offer was really alluring to the then computer freaks. The first generation USB port, named as USB 1.0’s speed ranged between 1.5Mbps to 12Mbps.
However, with increasing USB connectivity devices in the market and with new processors offering multi-tasking at high speeds, the USB 1.0 needed to be upgraded. Then saw the dawn of USB 2.0, which offered services up to a speed of 480Mbps. Today the world is enjoying its services immensely. There is not a single computer without USB 2.0 ports. It has become as important to have a USB 2.0 port in a system as any other configuration.
Now is the new age of impatience where people want more speed and much faster rate of data transmission. Thus Intel and its partners have come up with the latest addition to this technology named USB 3.0, which has a lightning fast speed of data transfer up to 4.8Gbps.
They do not have any compatibility issues with earlier USB technologies either making it great news for all the domestic users. However, people cannot expect to taste this technology anytime before mid 2010. Also, it would take less time than the present USB ports to charge the MP3 players or Mobile phones. Now that’s one hell of a Super Speed Device. Isn’t it?
